LO_141027-37 copyThis is my interview with Nikki Parkinson.

What traditions from your childhood do you continue? Planning out what I’m going to wear. I remember doing that when I was eight and wanted to impress my Year 3 teacher with my new-old op shop frocks my Nan had bought me.

Do you collect Barbie dolls now? YES. Well sort of. My favourite would have to be the Vogue Australia 50th Anniversary Barbie.

What’s the hardest part of your job? Fitting all the things I want to do into one day! I love what I do and it’s easy to get side-tracked and not stay focussed on projects.

What’s the best part of your job? The Styling You blogging community. It’s such a beautiful, supportive and judgement-free space. I’m proud that I set that intention and that’s what has evolved organically.

What are 5 beauty products you think every woman should use? Lip balm, mascara, illuminator, sunscreen and night-time moisturiser

What was the best thing about writing this book? Getting to download all the key messages from my blog, Styling You, into a manual for my readers to unlock their style.

What was the most interesting thing you discovered when writing this book? Organising and coordinating a book photo shoot is way more stressful than writing 80,000 words.

What was one of the best things that happened because of this book? Thanks to NIVEA, I was able to tour the book, visiting more than 25 places around Australia in five months. This meant I got to meet Styling You readers from Perth to Bundaberg.

What are your favourite gadgets? My entire iOrchard.

What are you working on next? My blog business has just been judged 2015 Telstra Business of the Year – micro business – QLD so I’m preparing for the national awards on August 20. Styling You is the first blog to ever win a Telstra Business Award.
